Economics play a key role in conservation. Some 800,000 people may lose their jobs as the article states. Lost wages can equal lost conservation efforts. I am not a proponent of canned safari hunts, but in limited cases, well run, environmentally aware, humane organizations have value to their communities, the land, as well as with species protection.
